THE ART OF SIPPING TEQUILA

Discover what sets a sipping tequila apart — a spirit crafted to be savored with presence and intention.

SIPPING TEQUILA EXPLAINED

To sip tequila is to savor a spirit — a spirit born from heritage, region, time, and cultural identity.

"Tequila is a live product. Our process is not industrial; it's handcrafted. It's alive."

Maestro Tequilero, Juan Carlos Vera

The main difference between a sipping tequila and a non-sipping tequila is the quality of the agave and the method behind its production. Were the agaves harvested at peak maturity of 7-8 years, or are the agaves young at 3-5 years of age? Is the tequila almost entirely handcrafted, or does it solely utilize an entirely industrial method with machinery? Did the agaves roast in an earthen oven for several days, or were they treated with hydrochloric acid in a diffusor for speedy cooking?

While sipping tequila may have no clear visual differences from a premium or well tequila, the two are crafted utilizing separate processes which yield separate results, which in turn impacts the mouthfeel, olfactory experience, and overall flavor profile of the spirit.

OUR SIPPING TEQUILA ENSEMBLE

At CASA J, we've crafted a unique expression of the spirit called a Sipping Tequila Ensemble — a blend of both the traditional and ancestral production methods. By marrying two processes, our blend of 93% Tequila Traditional and 7% Tequila Ancestral takes on a complex profile that marries both old world and new world methods of production, imbuing the spirit with notes of caramelized piña, green apple, fresh herbs and honey blossom, to name a few. You can learn more about our Sipping Tequila Ensemble here.

"TEQUILA BREATHES AND TRANSFORMS, JUST AS YOU AND I."

TO BE SERVED NEAT

Sipping tequila is crafted to savor slowly and serve neat, preferably in a tulip glass to best experience the aromas and olfactory flavor profile.

Before streamlining the name to 'Tequila,' the spirit was named 'Vino de Tequila,' as it was originally enjoyed neat in a similar manner as a fine wine. Only when Tequila made its way to the states did mixologists begin experimenting with diluting the spirit with juices and mixers for cocktails.

"TO BE ENJOYED AS A FINE WINE."
